How Music Can Make You A Morning Person

The alarm went off at 4:30 am in the morning, and my heart drummed rapidly as I was just kicked out from a dream. My head felt heavy and I didn’t feel like walking up, even so, I dragged myself from the bed. Half asleep, I went and played a song (Not Today by BTS) on my laptop, hoping that it will make me feel the way it did when I first heard it. And I found that it did. I played several other songs that made me feel awesome when I heard it for the first time. It helped me to shift my energy level. It made me feel alive and pumped up.

So, I googled it to see if listening to music in the morning could help me in anyways (especially to elevate my energy level when I feel like a zombie), and found that listening to ‘right’ music could make me a morning person. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to listen to blues the first thing when you wake up(unless you want to go to sleep again). So the choice of music is important.

Music has the power to shift our moods depending on the type of music we listen to ( That’s the reason music is used in meditation). This means listening to melodious songs (which makes us sleepy) and the songs that give us negative emotions (because it could affect the rest of the day) is not a good idea. The right type of music is something that gives us energy and makes us feel inspired to do something right away (this can change your life!). In short, choose a song with positive lyrics that makes you want to sing along (and maybe, dance along too. It is dynamic meditation, right? But I don’t dance because I’m not into it).

I also found out that music can benefit us in many ways. It makes us more productive, happy and excited, decreases stress and anxiety, and soothe our mind lifting up our spirit. But I think playing a musical instrument can also help us in the same way to get energized in the morning (I do remember playing guitar right after I woke up, and I think I felt calm and blissful , but not sleepy nor energetic. Depends on the song, I guess).

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.
